I was super nervous before the start. I’ve been forced to walk during both the 12k trail run and the 15k trail run I did earlier this year, so the goal was just to make it through. But it turned out 21 km on road was easier than 15 km on trail.
It was windy, a bit sunny. I loaded up on various glucose tablets, water, and energy drink. My plan was to run the first half at an easy pace and see if I could pick it up after that, but instead I got slightly slower.
At 10k everything felt good.
At 15k I was super happy that I’d managed to run the whole distance, a brand new goal, but this is where my knees and feet started to hurt.
At 18k I was reeeally tired. I wanted to finish strong but shuffled my way through the SAIS loop in the forest.
The last 500 meters were tough and I kept checking my watch the whole time to see if it was almost time to rest.
And right at the finish line I met up with my family and caught my breath, really pleased.
So here, two days later, it feels totally fine. No injuries or blisters. Body’s weak but no pain.
Time for new goals!
